Persian wedding in the Texas hill country | Austin-Houston wedding venue with Persian personality

Shiraz Garden is named after our founder’s home town Shiraz which is known as the “city of gardens” in southern Iran.

In the 13th century, Shiraz was the capital of Persia and the center for the arts. To this day, it is still known as the city of poets, literature, and flowers. The name “City of Gardens” comes from the multitude of homes and city spaces filled with gardens, fruit trees, and flowers.

Shiraz Garden outside of Bastrop is meant to give the gift of these gardens to our couples here in the Hill Country as well. There are over a 100 fruit trees planted with hopes that they will mature to cover the property in citrus scents and flowers.

Wedding receptions at our Baugh — “garden” — provide the most exclusive Persian traditional wedding setting in Texas, maybe in the United States. The architecture compliments traditions from around the world and multiple aesthetics but Persian weddings will especially appreciate the water features, Formal Garden, and citrus trees amount the water features.

If you are Persian and looking for a wedding venue it would be our honor to be your Persian wedding venue right here in Texas, just twenty minutes from the Austin International Airport.

The Sofreh: A Persian Wedding Tradition overlooking the Texas Hill Country

It’s a Persian wedding ceremony tradition; meaning a table or a “spread.” The Sofreh is a central Persian wedding tradition that means “spread,” and includes having a beautiful spread of meaningful components at the exchange of vows ceremony.

You can see Nessa and Erica at their Sofreh at Sunset Vista here. Their Sofreh is covered with delicious foods, sweets, and beautiful decorative items that all have their own particular symbolism for marriage.

At one point in the ceremony, the wedding party, usually the bridesmaids, hold a cloth above the sweetheart’s heads and then grind cones of hard-packed sugar onto the cloth. This symbolizes a sweet blessing raining down on the soon-to-be newlyweds.

After their sugar shower, Nessa and Eric exchanged vows and rings! This Persian wedding ceremony was one of many at Sunset Vista with this beautiful view in the background. No matter the traditions or ceremony style these sweeping views never get old and our couples love their wedding galleries throughout the year regardless of the season.

RECEPTION at the CHAHAR BAGH FORMAL GARDEN

  • Inspired by the beautiful gardens of Shiraz, and combined with the designers’ Puerto Rican, Indian, and American heritage this multicultural space is a wonder.

  • The main Formal Garden area is 6400 sq. ft with ornate water features on all sides and built-in seating.

  • It is equipped with a covered bar, fully equipped outdoor kitchen, sound system, restrooms, a fountain, and two fire pits.

  • Use it as a cocktail-type reception space, cocktail hour, or for your seated dinner.

  • There are also two additional covered spaces (one 2400 square ft) adjacent to the Formal Garden providing extended space for gathering, dinner, dancing, music, etc. In all there is more than 11,000 square feet of space.

  • Adjacent to the garden is also our large covered Ceremony Area, which we call the Outdoor Cathedral Ceremony Space. See photos of this beautiful ceremony option here. This space is our recommended ceremony location June-September.

Nessa and Eric made sure their guests had the full Persian experience at their wedding reception by adding on our Persian Rug Dance Floor! We love this stylish upgrade that elevates the outdoor dancefloor and gives guests something they will always talk about. This rug dance floor is always a wedding guest favorite and makes for beautiful photos too!
