With its stunning scenery, delicious catering options (see our list here), and friendly people, Shiraz Garden is the perfect Persian setting to start your new life together.

Here are some of the benefits of hosting your Persian wedding at Shiraz Garden, Bastrop, TX:

  • Austin has a large Persian community, so you can find all the vendors and services you need to plan your perfect wedding. This includes amazing Persian dance groups, desserts, and sofreh design.

  • Shiraz Garden was designed around our beautiful natural scenery that reminds my dad of his home, Shiraz, in southern Iran. The landscape will be a treat to your guests.

  • The Farsi on the main gate and throughout the buildings is a small nod to those who will recognize it and feel at home.

Join us as we reminisce about one of our all-time favorite weddings with the sweetest couple, Mina and Bijan.

As many of you know, Bijan and I will be having a traditional Persian ceremony called a Sofreh Aghd.

We wanted to share some information as to what that entails.

At our ceremony there will be a beautiful table set up with items symbolizing a happy life for the couple. Each item represents different things to bless the marriage.

The bride and groom sit in front of the mirror (facing the Sofreh and their guests). On the table, there are various items like a mirror which represents light, the bread which represents good health; and so on. Read below for more information on the Sofreh Aghd!

During the ceremony, the officiant will ask Bijan (in Farsi) if he promises to be a good husband, a good future father to his children, etc. and Bijan will say "baleh" (yes in Farsi). The officiant will ask me similar questions. Traditionally, the bride does not say "yes" right away. The officiant will ask 3 times, and during this time, the guests will be yelling out things and laughing and truly making light of a sweet tradition. On the 3rd try, I will say baleh! All this to say, please don't worry if you don't hear me say yes right now - it's just tradition and I am very excited to say yes & marry the groom :)

Lastly, after we say yes, it's tradition to slightly dip a finger in honey and feed it to one another. Again, to symbolize a sweet life. This is another time during the ceremony where the audience might "oooh" "awww" and yell other things in Fasri to join in the fun.

I wanted everyone to just be aware because I understand it might be considered rude when audience members yell during a wedding ceremony, but Persian ceremonies are very inclusive and interactive like that.

Please don't hesitate to ask us any questions! We are so excited to have you all be a special part of our wedding and are so grateful for all your hard work!

Love, Bijan & Mina

SHIRAZ GARDEN RECEPTION AND PERSIAN RUG DANCE FLOOR

Several of our couples have used the Folkoholic Dance Group and Drummers for Grand Entrance and other fun moments during wedding receptions for various fusion couples! If you are looking for something truly unique and a fun, entertaining surprise for your wedding guests, then consider this fantastic addition to your day.

But we have to give it up to Mina’s father for bringing his A-game to the father-daughter dance and how much fun it was to watch! They were both having the time of their lives, and it showed! How amazing are these photos to remember this sweet moment!

Now that we’ve gushed over the dance floor we’ll move inside to swoon further over the beautiful florals that Pearls and Sapphire created for this sweeet couples chic and classically beautiful wedding.

Before we go, we have to say it one more time — this couple is why we do what we do and host weddings at Shiraz Garden! Sharing this stunning property that is so meaningful to the Khonsari family all together with other couples, especially Persian couples, is something the entire team and famil cherish.
